Licences
Any angler aged 12 years or over, coarse fishing in England and Wales, must have an Environment Agency licence.
Money from the sale of licenses helps fund looking after fisheries. If you are caught fishing without one, you are cheating
other anglers, and could be fined up to £2500. A rod licence is valid for a year from 1st April – 31st March.
Current costs are as follows:
Full - £25.00
Junior - £5.00 (12 -16 years of age)
Each licence will allow you to use a maximum of two rods. Other concessionary licences are available.
Rod licences can be purchased from the post office or online at: www.environment-agency.gov.uk
Permits
Now that you have a rod licence, you will require permission to fish a venue.
Venues are usually owned by an angling club or a commercial fishery where you pay on the day of fishing otherwise known as
a “Day Ticket Water”.
